I have written one NIH SBIR application, and it was by far the most difficult thing I have ever done. When I tackle those kinds of projects, I usually limit my services to 'editing' as opposed to generating original content. I don't know how to explain the nuances of a surgical tool, but I know how to create a timeline and plan, keep everyone on track and put together a proposal as long as I can follow the general concept.
