I have to agree with Justin - the cost of replacing ink cartridges for all those printers that David wants to buy is just a bit mind boggling. That being said, thanks for the detailed information about the copiers as well as your process! It's all very helpful!

@DavidStone I don't want to setup and maintain 21 individual printer/copiers, each with its own use cycle and potential for breaking.

Controlling consumable costs and usage is also easier when you've got one efficient high-capacity system.

We do have a couple niche machines (photo and CD printer) in mind, but those specific tasks can't be performed by a regular copier/printer.

The same $4200 would have bought
twenty-one $200 multi-function
printer/copiers. I have my own printer
and I find it incrediblyconvenient to
have it right beside my desk. Why isn't
giving everyone their own printer a
reasonable option?
(If you have more than 21 employees,
you could share a printer between pairs
of employees using a USB switch.)

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm a tech deacon for a small church and run into similar problems. Evaluating hardware, let alone ongoing service for what amounts to a significant expense like a copier, is a challenge, and many don't take that into consideration.

Now I'm itching to start an edmunds.com for small office equipment. Hmm...
