I was approached by a legitimate client (i.e. one that has successfully received federal funding, and was willing to pay prevailing rates for grant writing) to write an abstinence-only grant proposal to U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services. I don't turn down too many federal proposal writing opportunities, but I did turn that one down. I won't in good conscience write a proposal for something that in my heart I'm clearly opposed to.

I have one parallel proposal I did work on. I wrote successfully for federal Healthy Marriage Act funding. However, the client, a county government, was going to use the funds for conflict resolution classes, counseling people in real distress, etc., and not for the very narrow political agenda the grant program was funded for. So I do find some judgment calls to be made
